Sannohara (Geo-park)

Sediment from the Toya Pyroclastic Flows and Pyroclastic Flow Plateaus

Flat, sprawling plains near Lake Toya, which were formed by a huge pyroclastic flow over 110,000 years ago. Nowadays the vast area contains agricultural fields or pastures, providing good drainage to the soil and contributing to vegetable farming in the region.
